
Jorge Prósperi served as a Public and Independent School Spanish AP/IB Teacher, Middle School Principal and Admissions Director for some 45 years. He was an adjunct instructor in the School of Education teaching graduate students Diversity Literacy and Critical Thinking Theories at the Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (Wayne State University). The experiences working with Wayne State University provided opportunities to create and present 28 workshops on Diversity Literacy to Detroit Public School administrators and teachers.
Jorge earned a doctorate degree (2007) in Curriculum and Instruction from Wayne State University, an MA in Foreign Language Education, and minor in Spanish Language and Literature. Through the years, he was privileged to work with stellar Diversity facilitators, academicians and critical theorists. Such experiences focused on Diversity Literacy, Crit-Theories, Social Qualifiers/Constructs, Multi-generational Trauma, and the use of Poetics in Qualitative Research.
In 1988 he collaborated with exceptional educators from across the country at the Harvard Principal Center Summer Institute dedicated to Educational Leadership. This experience provided professional and personal growth beyond measure.
He is grateful to the National Association of Independent Schools and Independent Schools of Central States for providing opportunities to participate as presenter and facilitator at annual extended summer diversity conferences throughout the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico.
His contributions to the field of education were recognized as recipient of Administrator of the Year Leadership MAMSE Award from Michigan State University, the Korean Sae Jong Society of Metro Detroit Award for Excellence in Education and the Enseñanza Award from Wayne State University Chicano-Boricua Studies Center now known as the Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (LAS).
